I am in Africa ! A dream come true !
This morning, I visited a cockerel. I thought it would be afraid of me but... not at all.
Then, in the afternoon, you will never guess what I did ! Look at the photo. Believe it or not, I really crossed that bridge ! Not alone of course, I received some help from poissonrouge.
Two other toy voyagers did it too : Roary and Wolley. I don't know if they will mention that.

I loved this day : a lot of grass !
I climbed a big mountain. There was a lot of grass called "elephant grass", because it is so high that an elephant could hide inside.

This is a pig.
This pig is in Guinea.
Poissonrouge thinks it's a guineapig.
I don't think so...

A waterfall, a bridge, and huge roots. This is what I saw today. That all was kilometers away in the bush. It was a great trip !

Nothing special today, so I want to show you the well. It is quite useful now, because the dry season has begun.

Kissidougou, Guinea - 25th December 2011
By: poissonrouge
Happy Christmas !
Today, we first noticed that there was tap water ! A good thing on a celebration day.
Then, we received new clothes, like everyone for Christmas.
After that, someone told us that there was diesel oil in town. We hurried, but we were too late : the truck just before us received the last drops.
So we went to church (late...). There was a lot of singing, and then the pastor spoke about the birth of Jesus, and then we ate a lot of rice all together : that is 747 people.
Next week, I will probably not be online : we are travelling in an area without Internet. So have a happy new year !

Uups... You can never be sure of anything in Guinea. We tried to go to Macenta, but the car had a serious breakdown... Back to town, we were told that "the cale was stuck". It does not mean anything... But anyway, the cale or anywhat is not stuck anymore, and we will try again tomorrow !

We made it !
I am in Macenta now, a beautiful town in the forest area. Since I am here, I have been discovering the outside : a lot of trees and flowers, of course.

This morning, we visited a missionary hospital.
Then we headed south. Look at these trees, they are huge !
At noon, we stopped to eat rice with sweet potatoes leaves. It was yummy.
Tomorrow, we are going to... you will never guess !

Bossou, Guinea - 29th December 2011
By: poissonrouge
Did you guess ? Of course, you did not... We went to Bossou, to watch the chimpanzees. I don't have a photo of me and the monkeys, it was already very difficult to photograph them : they are always moving, and you can't use the flash. Anyway, I was really there and I really saw the chimpanzees. It was fantastic !

Nzao, Guinea - 31st December 2011

We played a very difficult game : Old McDonald had a farm, and on his farm he had some cows, dogs, cats, chickens, milk and eggs. Putting them all in his yard is not easy. The dos annoy the cats and chickens. The chickens are afraid of the cats and stay away from the fence because of the foxes. The cows, dogs and cats may break the eggs, whereas the cats and dogs may drink the milk. The milk and eggs should not be left near the fence (they might be stolen), and the cows and chickens are too noisy and cannot stay near the house.
Can you help Old McDonald arrange his yard in peace and harmony ?
No, I can't...

There are two places I loved on the way back home : the iron bridge, and the place where the bad road begins !

One of those cocoa fruits is different, don't you think ?...
If you want to know what we did with these, have a look at Roary and Wolley.
