Dondalen, Denmark - 26th May 2017

By: RikeH

Hi Mum and Dad,

look  behind me – you see Denmark's highest waterfall – Dondalen.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0391.jpg

It wasn't that impressive – but it was a nice walk to reach it.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0393.jpg

Here you see the small river, behind the waterfall.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0398.jpg

I found a really big mushroom.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0401.jpg

The bear's garlic bloomed.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0407.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0403.jpg

We liked it here.

Svaneke, Denmark - 26th May 2017

By: RikeH

Hi Mum and Dad,

Svaneke shall be one of the most beautiful towns in Denmark. Well – this bay looked nice.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0409.jpg

There were 4 chimneys of a smokehouse. This is typical for Bornholm.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0410.jpg

The market place.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0415.jpg

There were some old and colorful houses.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0418.jpg

Then we walked to the port.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0421.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0424.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0427.jpg

Svaneke is a nice small town – but hopefully not the most beautiful town of Denmark…

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0430.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0435.jpg

It was time to show our holiday home. It was big enough for all of us here.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0382.jpg

A great living-room…

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0369.jpg

…and a nice kitchen.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0374.jpg

Do you know what this is? It was the start of a wasps' nest

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0376.jpg

These were our favourite places – we could sit here and watch TV, or turn around and look into the beautiful garden.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0380.jpg

Paradisbakkerne, Denmark - 27th May 2017

By: RikeH

Hi Mum and Dad,

Today we want to see a big balanced rock. There are some of it on Bornholm, but we wanted to go to  the most famous one.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0441.jpg

The way was nice, but long.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0445.jpg

There is the Rokkestenen. This big boulder is under nature protection since 1894.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0448.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0451.jpg

I took a photo with people on it, because you can see how big the boulder is. I wasn't strong enough to let it move.

Balka, Denmark - 27th May 2017

By: RikeH

Hi Mum and Dad,

Our next stop was Balka. It has a long beach.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0456.jpg

I visited the small harbor.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0460.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0462.jpg

Then I went to the beach. We had to balance over this water.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0465.jpg

Some people lie in the sun or went into the water.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0469.jpg

It was a nice place.

Snogebζk, Denmark - 27th May 2017

By: RikeH

Hello Mum and Dad,

Snogebζk had a pier to the harbor, but it was only 100 meters long.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0475.jpg3

This view was beautiful.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0476.jpg

But I liked these small houses.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0479.jpg

This was funny.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0482.jpg

Ugh, a factory for cod liver.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0484.jpg

This house was so funny – its roof was a boat.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0488.jpg

Toronto, Canada - 11th June 2017

By: RikeH

Hello Mum and Dad,

I am in Canada  - we started in Toronto. Behind me you see the Fairmont Hotel. It is very large.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0006.jpg

But I want to go there – the CN Tower.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0007.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0008.jpg

We took a very fast elevator and went into a nice restaurant. You can sit and eat – and see different parts of Toronto, because it revolves.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0010.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0011.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0014.jpg

Look – the Fairmont Hotel. Now it looks small.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0015.jpg

I was so brave. You have a glass bottom high on the tower. I sat on it and saw in the deep.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0017.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0019.jpg

Wow – I have been there. Only glass between me and the ground.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0022.jpg

There was the Roundhouse near to the Tower.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0023.jpg

This loco was beautiful.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0026.jpg

Locos were stored here in the Past – and with this platform they could reach the rails.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0027.jpg

We saw some old housees – this was the Osgoode Hall.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0031.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0032.jpg

Behind me you see the new town hall. Well – new? It is from 1965.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0034.jpg

I like this photo.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0036.jpg

This is the old town hall – I like it more than the new one. Maybe I am a little old-fashioned.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0037.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0040.jpg

Back in the hotel I wanted a photo in the lobby – the big chess pieces are great!

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0041.jpg

And I liked our room.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0001.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0002.jpg

We felt like kings.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0003.jpg

In the evening we got chocolate.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0043.jpg

You see the 150 everywhere in Canada this year – it stands for the 150th birthday of Canada.

Distillery District, Toronto, Canada - 12th June 2017

By: RikeH

Hello Mum and Dad,

It was hot in Toronto – very high temperature. Nevertheless we wanted to see something. This is one of the most beautiful churches in Toronto – the St.-James-Kathedrale.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0046.jpg

I liked the interior, too.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0049.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0053.jpg

Look – the St. Lawrence Market.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0057.jpg

Then we arrived at the Distillery District. Here you see many industrial buildings out of the Victorian time.  Many bridal pairs come to this place to take photos. Maybe this is the reason for this heart.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0059.jpg

A carriage with some barrels.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0062.jpg

Well – it looked like it was in the Past – only the high buildings were not here in that time.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0065.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0068.jpg

This house was so beautiful.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0071.jpg

Can you see, what this is? Right – so many padlocks, put here by pairs in love. You can see things like this all over the world, I think.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0074.jpg

The Distillery District is famous for movies or commercials. Today it was a commercial for Pizza.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0078.jpg

It was exciting - I met a player of Toronto's baseball team.

Niagara on the Lake, Canada - 13th June 2017

By: RikeH

Hello Mum and Dad,

We were in a nice small town – called Niagara on the Lake. We took a nice walk. Our first stop - St. Vincent Church.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0101.jpg

Near to it there was the St.Mark's Church.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0102.jpg

Other old houses.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0105.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0119.jpg

This one wasn't old, but beautiful.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0107.jpg

Behind me you see the bell tower and the old court house.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0109.jpg

There were some colorful houses in the town.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0113.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0115.jpg

The Angel Inn ist Canadas oldest Inn, that still has guests.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0117.jpg

On the way to a nice viewpoint we crossed a golf course. I had to watch out for golfers.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0121.jpg

Luckily no golf ball hit me. So I was able to visit the Fort Missisauga.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0123.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0129.jpg

This way looked exciting.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0125.jpg

A nice view over the Lake Ontario to Toronto.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0126.jpg

Another Fort – it is the Fort George.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0130.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0131.jpg

We saw it later from a nearer point – it looked beautiful.

Niagara Falls, Canada - 14th June 2017

By: RikeH

Hello Mum and Dad,

What a beautiful place. I visit the Niagara-Falls. Behind me you see the US-Fall.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0140.jpg

There is the Canadian fall – it seems to be wider.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0144.jpg

It looked so beautiful!

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0149.jpg

We went behind the falls – well – this view wasn't that exciting. But it was very loud – and I felt the power of the water.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0156.jpg

Then we went onto a great viewing-platform.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0161.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0166.jpg

It was very wet – you see the people with the yellow ponchos. Thank you Rike that you took photos, although your camera got wet…

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0165.jpg

Well –the camera was dry again – the lense was cleaned. Now I am on a boat. This was the US-waterfall.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0174.jpg

And the Canadian – we went nearer to it. Really near – but we were not able to take photos there, because it was too wet.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0177.jpg

A photo of both falls. I had a lot of fun here.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0181.jpg

Our last stop were the rapids. The walk was called White Water Walk – and the view was so beautiful.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0184.jpg

I learnt about rapids – there are 6 grades for it. These have the number 6 – the most dangerous rapids.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0189.jpg

You cannot see on the photo, how fast the water moved.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0191.jpg

It was a great day here.

Kingston, Canada - 15th June 2017

By: RikeH

Hi Mum and Dad,

We were in Kingston and took a tour in this beautiful Trolley.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0224.jpg

We went into it.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0208.jpg

We had a great view over Kingston.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0210.jpg

There was a lot of water everywhere.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0212.jpg

A beautiful church.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0214.jpg

Only houses out of stone are allowed here – after many fires in the Past.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0216.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0218.jpg

I really liked this building.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0220.jpg

Another big church.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0222.jpg

You see locos in many places in Canada.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0226.jpg

But this one was the best – and I was allowed to drive it.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0227.jpg

The town hall.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0230.jpg

There are many of these towers here – they belonged to the defense.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Can-0234.jpg

And surely I need lighthouses in my holidays.

Hello Mum and Dad,

We live in this nice manor at the moment.

Maybe the frog was the landlord? He sat in front of the house.

We went inside – beautiful. And the balloons were great!

Hi Mum and Dad,

We went to Upper Canada Village. Many old houses are here – we saw many of it.
It was very interesting!

Hi Mum and Dad,

Today I visited Ottawa. I saw the Centre Block on Parliament Hill, the National War Memorial in downtown Ottawa, the National Gallery of Canada and the Rideau Canal and Chβteau Laurier.

Gatineau Park, Canada - 18th June 2017

By: RikeH

Hello Mum and Dad,

We went into the Gatineau Park. First we stopped at the Pink Lake. Then we continued to the Mackenzie King Estate – the home of the 10th premier of Canada. We saw nice houses, a beautiful lake, a funny ruin and a beautiful water fall there.

Yours
Stoker
