Central Shopping Mall - Ichibangai
Christmas is not a national holiday in Japan. However, they also decorate and enjoy Christmas. Here, this shopping area is decorated so wonderful.
After shopping, we had a nice coffee break

Hi,
Takamatsu is a port city on the Seto Inland Sea.
It was a warm day. So I enjoyed walking on the long breakwater to the lighthouse.
And back to the shopping area, I found Christmas decorations more than last week.

Ikuta Shrine in Sannomiya
Most Japanese are both Shintoists and Buddhists. Shintoism is the native religion of Japan. It has no Bible. It is originated from primitive ancestor and nature worship.
People washes theri hands before they enter into the shrine. I tried like them 

Chinatown in Nankinmachi
There are three big Chinese towns in Japan. One is here in Kobe. Always it is crowded with many tourists.

Hey! I'm now walking along a small path in the garden.
This is Ritsurin Garden, a typical Japanese garden.
It is located in the center of the city, among the modern buildings.
For 228 years long since 1642, the Matsudaira family, the Lord of Takamatsu owned and maintained the garden. Today the garden is open to public.

Year of the Dragon
Hi mom,
I forgot to show you these "New Year Day" photos.
In Asian countries this year 2012 is called "year of the Dragon". It is one of 12 zodiac signs from old Chinese calendar.
Many Japanese have a miniature Shinto Shrine in their homes. It is called "Kamidana".

When the new year starts, Japanese visit temples and shrines.
We visited Yashima temple at the top of Mt.Yashima.
Most of Japanese are Buddhist people and also Shintoists.
In Yashima temple Shinto shrine exists together.
Shinto is the native religion of Japan. Deities are everywhere. Nature deities (forest or mountain, even a stone), human deities (legendary persons) are worshiped at shrines.
Old foxes and raccoon dogs are also worshiped. They are clever animals and have a magical power in Japanese old tales. 

Hello from Australia!! 

I thought I would be coming to sunshine and warm weather because it is summer, but today when I got out of my travel box it was cold and wet and windy!!   Not what I was expecting - maybe it will be better in a few days??

Hi Mum,

This evening we drove to St Leonards which is by the beach, but on the way we stopped at Geelong to have a quick look at the bollards - they tell the history of Geelong and the surrounding area.

Here I am with some life savers

behind me is Port Phillip Bay - Sue had to hang on tight to me because it was very windy here

Hi Mum,

I am at the beach!!!    It is windy and trying to rain but I am at the beach!!

The bay is very rough today Sue said it is usually calm and flat - no waves! 

there is a lot of weed washed up from the rough weather


Maybe we will have better weather tomorrow??

Not much better today Mum still windy, raining and not a good day to go for a walk on the beach. We stayed in the car!!

Wow!! Such a nice day today - we can go down to the beach for a walk! 


Still a little windy, but not bad - the beach behind me is where we are going to walk

Ahh...relaxing by the sea!! 


Mmm...I quite like this beach!

Maybe I could sit here and wait for my handsome prince to come along??    Only joking...

we walked around the block behind the beach and found these balloons caught up in the power wires - I wonder where they came from and what they were for?

Very nice, very relaxing and very different from yesterday!!!

Hi Mum,

Today we went with Diddl-Maus to the Zoo to help achieve a mission!!


the tiger was really close - thank goodness it was not lunch time!!

A Koala!! It was busy eating it's gum leaves - I have completed a mission too!!! Yahoo!!!
